Our leading innovative consumer brand is seeking a Sr Art Director, Frameworks & Design Systems to join their team.

A Senior Art Director on the Frameworks & Design Systems team provides oversight to a small team of designers, and acts as a primary point of contact for a branch of work. They work closely with creative, technical, and managing disciplines to identify alignment opportunities, inform prioritization, provide design direction, and at times actively create considered and elegant design systems supporting marketing experiences. This leadership (and sometimes-hands-on design) role balances navigating cross-team and cross discipline relationships, creativity, and logic to ensure a holistic extension of our design system is thoughtfully created.

In this Sr Art Director, Frameworks & Design Systems role, you will: Provide oversight to a small team of designers who create holistic, elegant, extended design systems with a high degree of polish and attention to detail. Provide direction which honors current theory and implementations, as well as thoughtful extensions. Design with flexibility in mind, ensuring designs are accessible, and adaptive to varying workflows, viewports, technologies, and locales. Ensure designs are stress tested across all possible variations, and refine as needed. Explore prototypes to convey states, animations, and/or proposed behaviors. Communicate flexibilities and/or limitations to both designers and development, as well as creative leadership. Review drafts and prepare user documentation. Work closely with ACD and project team leads to identify potential areas for simplification, improved consistency, and new patterns; inform their priorities. Promote engagement with technical disciplines to ensure designs work within given limitations, and files are prepared with all necessary information to support the design intent. Promote thoughtful and purposeful design, rather than an enforcement of rules. Help define and/or improve how teams collaborate and leverage existing tools. Create presentation flows that establish and build on a foundation of design thinking. Clearly articulate design rationale, including flexibilities and limitations. Participate in healthy debates to ensure design systems are as robust and considered as possible.

The ideal Sr Art Director, Frameworks & Design Systems will have:
A minimum of 8 years experience in product design (including web, email, and/or design systems), defining or extending design systems, and/or working within an established brands strict style guidelines. Team oversight and coordination including design direction, prioritization of work, as well as the ability to coordinate across teams and disciplines. Photoshop and Sketch expertise, including component libraries and tooling, prepared with pixel-precision for design team use. Clear communication and presentation skills that speak to both creative and technical audiences. Preferred: Experience in marketing-oriented storytelling, with a strong understanding of HTML and CSS. Preferred: Animation experience. Preferred: Acuity in iconography. Preferred: Working knowledge of Principle.

Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred
