Our client, a well-known health and fitness brand in Carlsbad, is looking for a Director of Merchandise to join their team full-time!

Director of Merchandise Responsibilities:
- Manage Apparel team by creating a supportive environment to execute business strategy
- Analyze demographic, competitor, market trends, historical data, current sales reporting and inventory levels; propose strategic recommendations to support profitability goals
- Partner with Marketing and Sales teams to develop franchise and on demand promotions plus source and supply promotional items
- Contribute to creation and maintenance of reporting/budget for cross-functional review
- Review inventory to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring planned sales and planned markdowns are achieved
- Oversee product development; approve all purchase orders and internal data entry for accuracy and on time sales launch
- Negotiate terms contracts and product cost with vendor partners
- Research and source new vendors, apparel items and product categories
- Coordinate logistics of shipping and delivery to and from vendors for all goods
- Proactively work with the controller and fulfillment to optimize inventory turn and ultimately reduce inventories
- Manage website and work closely with technology to bring ecommerce trends to webstore and launches
- Assist in the planning/product selection and execution of apparel sales at corporate events
- Establish, nurture, and utilize internal and external partners to drive the business
- Travel to and oversee apparel at corporate events

Director of Merchandise Requirements:
- Bachelors degree
- 4+ years of experience in retail purchasing
- Inventory management and Ecommerce retail sales experience
- History of successful performance through fast and focused execution, strategic and creative thinking, and ability to foster a collaborative environment
- Proactive, detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Able to deal with frequent change, delays, and unexpected events and demands
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel
