A client in Washington, DC is looking for a freelance PR and Communications Manager to help their team, ONSITE for about 4-8 weeks.

This MAY have the potential to go full-time.

- The PR and Communications Manager will develop and execute communications campaigns that advance public education and advocacy campaigns.
- Communications topics include: voting rights, judicial nominations, criminal justice reform, economic security, and other issues as appropriate.
- Be able to pitch stories, build reporter relationships, conduct interviews.
- Work with teams to develop and execute public education and advocacy initiatives.
- Provide communications assistance to organizations and partners to augment ongoing advocacy campaigns.
- Draft communications plans that gear towards media relations by using digital platforms and content.
- Create and execute press events that spur coverage
- Create external press materials, including press releases, advisories, statements, op-eds, etc.

Qualifications of the PR and Communications Manager:
- 4+ years of media relations experience
- Experience pitching stories, cultivating reporter relations, and on-the-record experience is preferred.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively about deploying the full suite of communications tools
- Passion for civil and human rights
- Persuasive writing skills
- An understanding of the U.S. government and political system
- Experience in advocacy communications preferred.
