Our social media giant client seeks a Technical Artist to join their team in Menlo Park in this 5+ month freelance opportunity!

The Technical Artist will be responsible for the following:
- Collaborate with engineers and researchers to build 3D simulations and achieve embodied AI research goals.
- Complete 3D modeling as requested.
- Adapt external datasets for use with Habitat + convert source 3D formats to Habitat-preferred format.
- Annotate and clean up meshes.
- Inspect incoming datasets and get them loaded into Habitat simulator with minimal support from research engineers.
- Help drive technical requirements for 3D data acquisition effort, weighing in on texture formats.

The ideal Technical Artist should possess the following:
- 3+ years' experience scripting in preferred 3D modeling software - must be an expert in 3D modeling (emphasis on hard-surface/inorganic).
- Understanding of geometry LOD creation, including mesh simplification and normal-map generation.
- Expert in at least one popular 3D modeling package: Blender, 3ds Max, or Maya.
- Intermediate-level experience in Photoshop or similar 2D software.
- Intermediate-level experience in Unity Editor or Unreal Editor.
- Intermediate-level experience with lighting, authoring lights, baking lightmaps.
- Comfort working on Mac or Linux.
