Our art supply client seeks a 40/hr week freelance Assistant Category Manager to join their team onsite in Emeryville!

This Assistant Category Manager role has the potential to convert to a full-time permanent employee!

The Assistant Category Manager will:
• Set up, data entry, maintenance and research of multiple data points, e.g. vendor data, contracts, programs, buy cards, pricing, discounts, margins and cost factors
• Source, compile and analyze data e.g. Sales data, market analysis, trends, competitor activity, new items, product information etc. Provide results, observations and recommendations to the Category Manager
• Liaison with vendors and cross-functional teams for outreach, fact finding and process coordination
• Efficient and effective communication to disseminate data updates to both internal and external customers
• Provide operational support, content creation and proofing for marketing activity. Manage the tracking of the co-op program, recommend and initiate usage
• Partner with inventory analyst and category manager to create new item and promotional buys
• Manage Merchandising team responsibilities for return to vendors and overstocks
• Participate in industry trade shows and events as needed

The ideal Assistant Category Manager should possess the following:
• Outstanding math and problem-solving skills are a must
• Recent college graduates or equivalent industry experience required
• Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and an expert in Excel
• Strong vendor management skills
• Great project management and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages
