Our client, a well-known sustainable energy and waste company, is seeking an energetic Communications and Media Relations Specialist to join their team full time. This is a flexible hybrid role (onsite 3-4x per week) in Morristown, NJ. Flexible hours of 9am-5pm eastern.

The Communications and Media Relations Specialist will be executing proactive public relations, media relations and social media programs and initiatives to support business objectives. The role is tasked with increasing visibility among target audiences: clients, prospective clients, community leaders, policy makers and employees.

Media Management
Establish and nurture professional relationships with key industry stakeholders, including reporters, editors and other influencers.
Draft press releases, editorials, media pitches, holding statements and talking points that publicize and support the business objectives.
Act as a media spokesperson when needed
Prepping and ensuring senior executives / spokespersons are regularly trained and are well-prepared for media interviews
Oversee media monitoring and quarterly reporting to track results of proactive campaigns.

Channel Management and Content Creation
Support the ongoing development and strategy for digital and social media channels to increase social engagement, followers, and overall effectiveness
Facilitate the timely development of compelling new content to be leveraged in multiple areas both internally and externally. This may include by-lined articles, surveys, reports, infographics, industry awards and recognitions.
Oversee the production of a monthly internal newsletter

- Education: BS or BA required (Communications, Journalism, Business or related field). Advanced degree preferred, but not required
- Professional: 3-5 years of relevant communications and public relations experience required
- Expert knowledge of top and emerging social media platforms with experience driving engagement using data and analytics
- Comfortable being in front of media, strong communicator
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is necessary; experience with video editing and Adobe programs such as Photoshop and InDesign a plus
- Experience with Cision and Meltwater is preferred
