Our client, a well known insurance group, has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Product Designer to join their D2C team. This role is 60% hands-on design and 40% leadership and management.

***Please note, this role is hybrid, requiring you to be onsite 1 day per week in Hudson Yards for team meetings ad collaboration. You must also be fully vaccinated in order to be considered for this role.***

In this role, the Lead Product Designer will be dedicated to all things visual, UI and product design for the company's consumer product experiences. You'll lead and manage an agile "start-up" team of designers translating design thinking, research and processes into actionable solutions for digital experiences that empower consumers. Responsibilities include:

Manage and lead a team of 2-3 designers, mentor UI/UX designers, and set long-term and sprint priorities for the team
Step into a methodical design process anchored in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling releases
Strategize & problem-solve, balancing customer needs with business goals, market viability and technical feasibility
Translate customer insights into concepts, user journeys, storyboards, icon sets, system maps, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes using Figma, Adobe CS, and other design tools.
Incorporate user research and usability testing to integrate into product solutions
Design UI and UX with a conversion-optimization-focused mindset; work with teams to produce UI/UX documentation for website and conversion flows, including sitemaps, wireframes, and prototypes
Thrive in an agile development environment and enjoy the pace of a startup
Collaborate and partner with multi-disciplinary teams, including product managers, engineers, marketers, and executive leadership

Requirements for the Lead Product Designer include:

Minimum 6+ years of product design experience with a portfolio of successful case studies
Experience delivering design strategies, concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and more.
You understand and apply design thinking process requirements, including the typical time and resources needed to produce quality work
You bring an elevated, contemporary, pixel perfect aesthetic, eye for detail and a great sense of functionality
You have experience working with a design system and have a deep understanding of the digital product lifecycle
You have experience working on (or ability and high interest in) UI and UX research and strategy
Youre comfortable with development processes and tools and have a working knowledge of Figma and Adobe CS, as well as familiarity with basic HTML/CSS, React, APIs, etc.
You're an effective communicator & successful collaborator
who can articulately express and present the rationale behind design decisions in a thoughtful way
Ability to collaborate with the design team and cross-functional teams to drive win-win solutions and generate new impactful ideas
Youre excited to leverage analytics, usability tests, and other forms of qualitative and quantitative feedback informing creative processes
You are always learning new ways of improving product designs, generating more value for customers, and optimizing your craft.
Youre flexible and nimble, able to thrive in a fast paced environment, iterating quickly with a lean methodology approach as new ideas and data points emerge in order to meet our customers needs
Fintech and/or healthcare industry experience is a plus
Experience working in a startup environment and agile environment is preferred
