Our well-known beauty client is seeking a Director of Visual Merchandising and Store Design to join their team.

This is a hybrid role, and you must go into the NYC office 2-3 days a week. You will be managing 3 direct reports, so management experience is a must.

Director of Visual Merchandising and Store Design Responsibilities:
- Creates, manages and implements all visual merchandising projects for wholesale & owned channels: installations/gondolas/counter units, merchandising guidelines, visuals, support tools.
- Spearhead communication of visual merchandising strategies and initiatives.
- Build strong relationships and work cross-functionally with global brand team, field, retailer community, & suppliers.
- Monitor competitive merchandising activity and identify and maximize opportunities for the brand.
- Regularly visit key US cities to ensure proper implementation of merchandising directives.
- Communicate with all internal departments to ensure success of merchandising programs.
- Develop, train and coach 3 direct reports
- Partner with marketing teams to help manage budgets and monitor spending on a monthly basis.
- Lead Fixturing Projects including Installations, Gondolas, Upgrades and Repairs
- Collaborate efforts between brand, retailer, approved contractors and internal departments on new installations/gondolas. Manage renovations, overhauls & repairs as needed.
- Ensure brand guidelines are upheld within the retailer parameters
- Ensure that environment facilitates brand staff and customer interaction
- Ensure optimization of image and functionality
- Set and manage timelines for all projects
- Manage budgets associated with each project, ensure strong supplier negotiation & optimize costs with the help of procurement
- Set overall project priorities with sales and marketing teams based on workload & briefs.
- Manage development with procurement & vendors of needed tools for installations, gondolas and existing retail stores
- Manage Merchandising Schematics & Seasonal Updates
- Manage and publish new visual merchandising guidelines to reflect new product launch, seasonal promotions & core re-promotes
- Partner with agencies & vendors on the creation of merchandising guidelines & instruction sheets.
- Act as contact for retailer seasonal update preparation and approvals
- Ensure local markets & retailers follow set guidelines
- Develops tools and displays for special projects or event set-ups as needed

Director of Visual Merchandising and Store Design Requirements:
- 8+ years related experience (preferably in gondola & boutique/retail environments)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with marketing, sales, procurement & external vendors & agencies
- Strong ability to get things done working with all cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills.
- Process-oriented and exemplary time-management skills.
- Strong analytical & problem solving skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and fluctuating deadlines.

SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY:
- PC/Office/MAC applications
- Adobe photoshop, illustrator and indesign required
- 3D program required- Rhino or sketchup preferred.
