Our nonprofit client is looking for a Director of Media Relations to lead the development and execution of media campaigns, garnering high profile media coverage and mentoring internal team of associates.

The Director of Media Relations should have a track record securing media coverage, writing articles and news releases, and working collaboratively to achieve organization goals.

The Director of Media Relations will work remote with the expectation to be onsite in Washington, DC when it is safe to do so.

Director of Media Relations Responsibilities:
- Craft, direct and implement a highly responsive and proactive annual media relations strategy
- Manage the development and writing of press releases, blogs, statements, messaging, talking points, pitches, blogs, and opinion pieces.
- Garner high-quality media coverage that raises brand awareness to support overall communications strategy and reaches target audiences.
- Manage proactive and reactive media opportunities to secure quality coverage and ensure messaging aligns with communications goals and objectives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media to strengthen organization positioning as a trusted resource.
- Participate in the development of team strategic plans, goals, and objectives, ensuring alignment with those of the organization.

Director of Media Relations Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in in media relations, communications or media relations.
- Experience managing campaigns related to racial wealth equity, community development or poverty alleviation strongly preferred.
- Strong writing and communications skills ; samples of press releases, opinion articles, etc should be provided.
- Experience managing and mentoring teams.
