Our advocacy client in Washington, DC is looking for a Social Media Strategist to join their team on a medical leave coverage contract. This position is 37.5 hours a week through the end of March. This role is REMOTE with 9-5 business hours.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about LGBTQ topics and issues. You will have a strong background developing content and social media strategy.

You must have samples to be considered for this role.

Duties of the Social Media Strategist:
- Draft specific copy for each social media channel i.e. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook
- Develop editorial calendar and prepare breaking news content
- Monitor trending topics related to LGBTQ topics and policy issues and advise on social media editorial content
- Research topics/areas of interest for blog and social media posts
- Update website content as needed using CMS Craft
- Assist with the management of intergrated marketing campaigns across departments
- Work across departments to execute social media strategy
- Review social media metrics with Sprout Social

Requirements of the Social Media Strategist:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English
- 6+ years of experience developing editorial calendars, managing social media campaigns, developing social media strategy
- Excellent writing and grammar skills
- Must have experience developing social media strategy
- Knowledge of Sprout Social
- Experience working with a CMS
- Passion for LGBTQ related topics, policies, and issues
