Senior Communications Manager

Our client, located in Midtown, has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Senior Communications Manager to drive proactive internal and external communications campaigns that strengthen employee engagement in the Operations Division and help to promote a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Communications Manager:
- Develop communication programs in partnership with Operations Division leadership that strengthen employee engagement and promote a strong safety culture.
- Counsel Operations Division leadership on effective internal and external communications strategies.
- Lead communications initiatives in the areas of maintenance and infrastructure work, labor relations, as well as the safe transportation of various materials.
- Partner with the media relations specialist and the director of strategic communications to respond to various safety and operational issues.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to increase awareness of safety initiatives.
- Serve as media spokesperson as required.

Requirements of the Sr. Communications Manager:
- Undergraduate degree or higher in communications, public relations, journalism, mass communication, or related areas.
- 7 years communication experience in a corporate or agency setting. Experience in railroads or industrials is a plus.
- Expertise among many communication disciplines, including media relations, digital media, employee communication, executive communications, marketing communication, issue management and crisis communication.
- Demonstrates a high degree of interpersonal and organizational savvy; builds networks and collaborates effectively to influence outcomes and achieve results; comfortable counseling senior executives.
- Possesses exceptional oral and written communication skills, and a deep understanding of how to create compelling content through a wide range of mediums.
- Exhibits a high comfort level driving action in ambiguous or evolving situations; processes new information quickly and adjusts strategies accordingly; displays situational adaptability.
- Drives results with a bias for action and a strong sense of personal accountability.
- Possesses excellent professional maturity, sound judgement, good analytical skills and the ability to make quality decisions to protect the companys reputation when necessary.
- Possesses the journalistic instincts and creative ability to identify and tell compelling stories that move the business forward.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior company leaders and business peers.

This is a full-time opportunity that will be 2 days a week onsite in midtown, near colony square.
