Our client, an integrated brand strategy, design, and technology agency is seeking a talented, experienced, fully remote Design Manager to lead their design team.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who loves design and design processes, mentoring junior designers, collaborating with folks across digital specialties, evolving and enhancing their process, and enjoys working in a flexible agency environment, where they walk the walk in terms of employee advocacy and support.

This position is fully remote with the option to work in the office in Center City, Philadelphia when/if desired.

The Design Team Manager will be:
- Collaborating with the design team members, contractors, project and account managers, developers, and counterpoint team leads, providing and maintaining insight and guidance on how the work of your team will impact the project or initiative.
- Acting as an internal project consultant for projects with design requirements, coordinate with project and account managers, and providing meaningful direction to design and project teams toward the user and client goals.
- Providing direct guidance and oversight - including 1 on 1s and performance reviews - to local and remote design team members, with a focus on quality of work and performance, professional development, and career growth.
- Identifying, defining, and implementing strategies and tactics to improve productivity and overall design processes while empowering teams to deliver elegant and thoughtful design solutions to that meet the objectives of the client and project.
- Informing (and sometimes lead) discovery meetings, workshops, and design presentations in coordination with project managers and design team members.
- Performing internal design reviews, provide art direction, inform user experience best practices, and ensure delivery to design briefs and scope, including defining and documenting review and sign-off requirements for projects or tasks and identifying when to involve or leverage other team members.
- Working with counterpoint departmental or team leads to ensure fluidity of the project value chain by identifying pain points originating from or impacting design deliverables; identity, implement and document scalable solutions.
- Troubleshooting design or client challenges with other team members, even in instances where a senior-level designer has been unable to identify a solution.
- Defining, implementing, and training designers on internal design system(s) and ensure that established practice and assets are appropriately leveraged on new projects.

The Design Team Manager will have:
- 6-10 years of experience in various design and design management/leadership roles.
- At least 3 years experience in the agency setting in client-facing roles.
- At least 2 years of experience in roles with direct reports.
- A solid foundation of design fundamentals, experience with design and identity systems, and an extensive understanding of website design.
- A demonstrated history of solving complex problems with cross-functional teams, using thoughtful design solutions and managerial skills to mentor team members through challenges.
- Polished, confident, and engaging presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with a well-developed ability to translate design concepts to laypersons on client or internal teams.
- Strong process understanding and documentation abilities, with an eye on creating scalable design operations and procedures for design team members to follow.
