UX Researcher - WFH during Covid-19

Our Social Media Tech client is currently seeking a UX Researcher for a 1 year contract.

The UX Researcher will be responsible for:
- You will be working on a global social media platform, influencing key design and infrastructure changes for their Desktop product as well as other interfaces
- Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering and marketing to identify, define and deliver meaningful products into the world
* Network with other researchers across the organization to understand past research efforts that could inform your work
* Collaboratively develop and execute research roadmaps, working closely with your product team to identify research topics
* Lead various qualitative research studies throughout all phases of the product development cycle
* Generate insights that fuel ideation and evaluate designs
* Contribute to product strategy and execution by way of high impact research insights and direction
* Occasionally manage research vendors to help augment the work of the research team
* Be a strong voice and advocate for the user

The ideal UX Researcher will have:
* Qualitative research experience working on consumer products and technology--employing a variety of research approaches including some of the following: design research, A/B testing, resonance and design mock testing, in depth interviews, and ethnography
* Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Strong ability to work independently and manage your time.
* Some experience with data and utilizing numbers to define and support hypotheses (OR relevant experience in partnering with data scientists and/or quant researchers)
* Experience with synthesizing research insights into a highly succinct story to get traction with various internal stakeholders and audiences
* Past experience with remote research methodologies and tools such as Dscout (and diary studies in general), UserTesting, Mural, etc
* {Bonus} Experience with user research supporting accessibility
* {Bonus} Design and data visualization skills that could help elevate the work to a wider audience by showing a compelling story (e.g., journey-mapping, etc)

Education/Experience:
* BA/BS in a human behavior related field, such as human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, anthropology, communication, information science, media studies, computer science, or economics
* 5+ years relevant experience within user experience, applied research setting and/or product research and development
* Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
* Experience synthesizing large-scale data in multi-method studies
* Experience planning and executing complex research projects in a product group or business area, working across multiple projects simultaneously
* Experience identifying, initiating, and leading projects of large scope that contribute to the greater research/product team through mentoring, culture, subject matter, or research expertise
* Experience building meaningful cross-functional relationships
* Experience translating research findings into strategic narratives
* Effective communication skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences
